A BEER FOR THE GOOD OLD DAYS
A group of friends and I got together; we wanted to go out for a few beers. We wandered around Santiago and ended up at a pub, which at this point had become very popular. We wanted to see if its beer still had its original taste and quality. We went into the HBH, which has a cozy, typical alehouse atmosphere, relaxed and full of good vibes.
This place brings back so many good memories of getting together with friends from college… after an exhausting week, a few glasses of beer weren’t unwelcome. ‘Let’s go to HBH!’ we would say. It was our escape, and now, again, we ended up at the same good old joint. It was amazing, unintentional; our beer-lover souls brought us here.
The service was great and timely. As always, the waiters were relaxed, friendly and empathetic students, which is important when you want to have a good time without feeling encroached upon by people who aren’t in the same frame of mind.
The place is somewhat rustic with lots of wood. It’s a typical “gringo” bar, warm and inviting. The food was great; garlic bread and other delicious tidbits came with the booze. Most importantly, the beer was so delicious and frosty cold.
Honestly, we had a great time. We laughed ourselves to death and, between drinks, we remembered those yearned-for college years, that intense period when we all wanted to fix the world and felt that we could do it all.
After all, it was the HBH pub that took us in. Stored in those walls are not only our memories, but the memories of so many other groups of friends as well…
